A Cry for Help: Finding Hope in the Darkest Moments

Lately, I’ve been walking through one of the hardest seasons of my life. The weight of it has felt suffocating, and if I’m honest, I almost let it take everything from me. I came so close to shutting down my blog, canceling my Bible study, stepping away from ministry—just disappearing into the background. The enemy whispered that it would be easier that way, that no one would notice if I just stopped.

But here’s the truth I’ve been clinging to: Even in the moments when I feel like giving up, God has not given up on me. Even when I don’t see a way forward, He is still leading me.

Maybe you’ve felt this way too. Maybe life has hit you so hard that you don’t know if you can keep going. If that’s where you are right now, I want you to know something—your cries are not unheard, and your pain is not unseen. God is near, even when He feels far away.

The Bible is full of people who cried out to God in desperation. King David, a man after God’s own heart, wrote in Psalm 61:2, “From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

I understand that kind of desperation—when the only prayer you can manage is “God, help me.” I’ve been there. But what I’ve come to realize is that even when I don’t have the strength to hold on, God is holding onto me.

One of the greatest promises in Scripture is that God listens. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

He is not a distant God, unmoved by our suffering. Instead, He is close, reaching out with love and compassion.

I won’t pretend I have all the answers. Some days are still really hard. But I know this—God is faithful. He sees beyond what I can see, and He is working even when I don’t feel it. The enemy wants us to believe that we are alone, that no one cares, that giving up is the only option. BUT THOSE ARE LIES. The truth is that God is with us, right in the middle of the mess.

God’s ultimate answer to our desperate cries is Jesus. In Him, we find peace in the storm, hope in despair, and joy in sorrow. Jesus Himself cried out in agony on the cross, yet through His suffering, He made a way for us to be redeemed.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed today, I encourage you to turn to Jesus. Let Him carry your burdens. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”  Surrender your pain, your fear, and your doubts to Him. He is faithful to bring healing and restoration.

If you’re struggling, please know that you’re not alone. Your life matters. Your purpose matters. Even if all you can do right now is whisper a broken prayer, know that God hears you. He sees you and He will never let you go.

I know, because He hasn’t let go of me.
